What The Heck Am I Doing?

This blog all started with an idea, as most probably do. I wanted to make a coffee table book of my scenic photos from around Oregon. It would have been called "Oregon 365: From Beach to Burns". I want to capture Oreogn in its finest all during the year. I have lived in Oregon for 15 years, and although I admire the beauty throughout all the United States and World, I think Oregon is a very diverse and beautiful place to live. We have lush evergreen forests, peaks that rise into the sky, gorgeous coastline, rolling hills, valleys, desert plateaus, canyons, rivers, lakes, and streams a plenty! There is so much in Oregon to admire, I feel you can go anywhere and find beauty. So that is the purpose of this blog, to admire and recognize the diverse beauty throughout Oregon.
Disclaimer: For those wondering, I have not altered or enhanced any image. The only editing done was to crop or rotate the image. These are straight from the source.

Day Fifty-Nine

This was taken . Many people love this shot because the footprints look like they are popping out, when they really are pushed into the sand. I’ve been told that if you look at it upside-down, you can see the imprints. Either way I love the shot!

Day Fifty-Eight

This was taken May 2004 about Memorial Day. As in most places, they had a large parade, a city party, and a service at the cemetery. It was an amazing site to see all the flags!

This was taken a couple weeks ago in Kings Valley. I love covered bridges, and Oregon seems to have an abundance. I’ve taken pictures of a few, and I hope to find many more.

This one is for those still experiencing winter. It was a beautiful snow in December 2008. I hope for those who still have snow that it melts for you soon. If it doesn’t, you can always move to Oregon!

Day Fifty-Four

I love catching birds in flight, and so that is what I did while I was at the Oregon Coast a couple days ago. I took several shots, and only kept a few. This being one of those few. I know they aren’t majestic birds, but they are graceful and somewhat peaceful to watch (not to listen to).

This was taken a couple of days ago in Newport. The bridge over the harbor is massive and beautiful! I love going to the bay front and seeing all the shops and just looking out over the harbor. On good days you’ll see some seals playing too!

This was from our trip yesterday. It is of a Sea Sun at the Hatfield Marine Science Center operated by volunteers and OSU students and professors. It is a free place to take the kids, and they have all sorts of stuff to do and see! It was wonderful!

Day Fifty-One

This one is from today when me and my family went to the coast. It was in Newport, more specifically at Agate Beach. The beach has a wonderful view of the lighthouse, Yaquina Head, which you can see in the background. The wind was wonderful, and the sun was glorious! A wonderful day at the beach, especially for February!

Day Fifty

Well I think for my fiftieth day I need to do something nice. This is what I chose. Those who know me know I love a few things in this world more than anything (besides my children and my husband), the color orange, the beach, and sunsets are some of those things. This encompasses those three. It was taken just north of Newport in June of 2009.

Day Forty-Nine

This was taken a couple weeks ago in Kings Valley. I love dew drops on grass, well dew drops on anything really. One day I hope to perfect my dew drop shots. But this one I couldn’t pass up because the grass was sparkling like diamonds. It was breathtaking.

Day Forty-Seven

This was taken about a week ago just north of Corvallis on Airlie Road. I think it showcases nicely what the Willamette Valley is like. You have the flat grass fields, with beautiful Coastal Range foothills behind them. The grass fields in the Willamette Valley are flanked by the foothills to either the Coastal Range or the Cascades. It makes for some very scenic and photographic drives!

Day Forty-Six

There was a request made for recent photos, so here is one I took a week ago. It is close to a creek by Kings Valley, OR. My husband has been asking me to take more reflection shots, since with our rain here in Oregon, there is ample opportunity to do so. Well I saw this shot and seized the moment. I think it turned out quite well, and I certainly enjoyed the blue sky!

Day Thirty-Nine

This was taken at the rose garden in Portland, and I call them Valentine Roses. I do not know their actual name, but since they bloomed in red, white, and pink all on one bush, I had to call them Valentines! This was also taken June 2003.

Day Thirty-Seven

I have had many requests for current photos, so I guess my “old” collection is getting, well, old. I promise, once I am done with my Valentine roses, I will be posting more current pictures! Today’s picture was also taken June 2003 at the Portland Rose Garden, which I have since learned is actually called the International Rose Test Garden. I guess people from all over the world try to get their roses showcased here. It is a beautiful garden, and it is quite diverse.
